Loans from the Viehof Collection

Deliberately, the Viehof collection foregoes its own exhibition house and supports museums, institutions, and galleries with temporary loans as well as permanent loans. Below, we would like to recommend selected exhibitions that we have supported.

Laurenz Berges at the Asphalt Festival 2026

Since 2012, the asphalt Festival in Düsseldorf has played a significant role as an interdisciplinary platform for contemporary arts in Düsseldorf. The conceptual and programmatic focus of the festival is on the development and presentation of works in the fields of performing arts and music. The project is supported by the non-profit asphalt Festival gGmbH, which is under the joint artistic and managing direction of Christof Seeger-Zurmühlen and Bojan Vuletić. The festival, which this year enters its 14th edition, spans a period of 20 days, offering a comprehensive program of creative and innovative art formats. It takes place from July 15 to August 2. A special highlight this year is the use of the KIT – Kunst im Tunnel as a venue. The underground exhibition space offers a unique setting, which is ideal for experimental concerts. The photographer Laurenz Berges, who lives in Düsseldorf, will create a very unique atmosphere here with his works. The Viehof Collection supports the exhibition with loans from its holdings.

Duration of the exhibition at KIT: 10.07.–02.08.2026

Eberhard Havekost, Face me (Ozelot)

Eberhard Havekost at Museum Kurhaus Kleve

The Museum Kurhaus Kleve shows from June 14 to October 18, 2026, under the title Eberhard Havekost: User Interfaces. Works 1995-2019, an extensive retrospective of the painter Eberhard Havekost (1967-2019). He was one of the great hopes of contemporary German art and has been internationally in the focus of public museums and renowned private collections through exhibitions and acquisitions since the beginning of the 21st century. His visual language uniquely combines the precise depiction of the visible world with the conditions of perception itself, especially with the digital user interfaces of smartphones, tablets, and image editing programs. As a result, his works appear cool and extremely contemporary, yet they also possess a visual enigmatic quality: through excerpts, focal points, and deliberate blow-up effects, they disrupt hasty expectations and act like painterly deep drills behind the facades of digital modernity.
